Every year, Montreal’s NYE celebration at the Old Port is a chance for us to live up to our night life’s reputation and showcase excellent local artists! This year, with Montreal’s 375th anniversary celebrations wrapping up, the organizers have put in some extra effort to make the evening even more special.
To kick things off, a HUGE potluck will be held at Marché Bonsecours from noon to 6:00 pm. It’s FREE FOR EVERYONE (first come, first serve) and will feature signature Quebec cuisine such as pea soup, tourtière and more.
The Jacques-Cartier Bridge will show off its full potential with a spectacular illumination for the occasion, and there will be fireworks at midnight.
The most anticipated moment is the reunion of Quebec folk group Mes Aïeux, who will perform for the first time in four years. The legendary group is planning to play an hour-long set!
That’s not all; several other big names are also on the bill:
- DJ Champion
- Daniel Bélanger
- Vincent Vallières
- Laurence Nerbonne
- Pierre Kwenders
- Les Deuxluxes
- DJ XXO
In previous years, the STM has kept the metro system open all night long for New Year’s Eve. We have reached out to the STM, but they couldn’t tell us anything yet. We’ll update this article as soon as we know!
UPDATE: the STM has confirmed that the metro will be running all night between December 31st and January 1st.
