There’s no sugar-coating it… Spring in Montreal is kind of gross. Sure, it’s nice to see the sun again, but when the snow melts away, we’re left with a thick layer of dust, gravel and forgotten garbage… Not to mention the dog poo!
Thankfully, Montrealers are a resourceful bunch, and each year, spring cleaning activities are organized by the city in an effort to make our streets and parks more livable in time for summer. On the city’s official website (French only), there’s a list of all the cleanups that are being organized as well as a tool to organize your own!
There are nearly 150 cleaning activities planned between April 27 and May 6!

As mentioned above, you can also organize your own cleanup! If your area is in dire need of cleaning up but isn’t yet represented on the map, all you need to do is click here to create your own cleanup activity! The city reviews each submission before they’re posted online. Once your submission is approved, they’ll mail you a kit with equipment ahead of the planned activity date.
