Drake is arguably the biggest name in music right now. His music is streamed 65 million times EACH MONTH! He has become the first artist to break a record set by The Beatles in 1964. Back then, the Fab Four placed five songs in Billboard’s Top 10, but last July, Drake bested that with seven simultaneous Top 10 hits!
There’s no denying the universal appeal of Drake’s music, his contagious personality and his dazzling smile. Add Atlanta hip hop trio Migos to the mix, and you’ve got an explosive live show on your hands. That’s exactly what came through to Montreal’s Bell Centre last night (Sep. 4), and fans came in droves to witness the phenomenon first-hand.
Tuesday’s show was Drake’s first in Montreal since October 7, 2016, and fans weren’t disappointed!
Testament to the dedication of fans, and proof that all those streams are reaching attentive ears, is the sheer level of volume heard in the above video. People know ALL the words!
But what really caught our attention is the stage! Drake thrones all on his lonesome on one of the biggest stages in showbiz. The thing itself is only slightly smaller than an NHL skating rink, leaving only a narrow space for a few lucky fans who manage to get floor tickets. Entirely equipped for projection, the stage becomes one giant jumbo-tron onto which various graphics are projected during the set. Video screens also wrap around the stage overhead, providing a full 360° experience to attendees.
On top of that, some very cool special effects, including elaborate pyrotechnics, illuminated drones and a flying Ferrari, complete the experience.
Drake returns to the Bell Centre tonight (Wednesday, September 5) for another crazy evening!
