ABC has confirmed that its hit TV series Grey’s Anatomy will be losing two of its female leads. Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw will both leave the drama’s cast at the end of this current 14th season, a representative told ET.
Sarah Drew (center) plays Dr. April Kepner. She joined the show in its sixth season. When the news dropped earlier today (Mar. 8), she took to Twitter to let her fans know how disappointed she is. Apparently, she wasn’t expecting to be dropped from the show when producers told her: I haven't really had the time to process this information. I've been with it for less than 48 hours,” she wrote.
For her part, Jessica Capshaw has played Dr. Arizona Robbins since season five of Grey’s Anatomy. She also took to social media to explain her sadness about leaving the show, saying “I am sad to see her [Dr. Arizona Robbins] go, but I am consoled by the idea that she will continue to live on and on in all of our consciences and our imaginations”.
Both women posed together for a photo album on Sarah Drew’s Instagram account, and fans couldn’t help but express their sadness about the pair leaving Grey’s Anatomy. Crying emojis and messages of love and sadness were spread throughout the comments.
