If you're a cyclist in Montreal, these recent poll results might not come as much of a surprise…
The Transportation Research at McGill (TRAM) team surveyed 1,500 cyclists in the city to identify the most dangerous intersections in Montreal.
Based on the results, the area around Berri, Ontario, and Saint-Catherine tops the list.
Here are the intersections most frequently mentioned by cyclists:
- Ontario and Berri
- Parc and Mont-Royal
- Saint-Joseph East and D’Iberville
- Papineau and Crémazie
- De Maisonneuve and Décarie
- De Maisonneuve and Berri
- Saint-Urbain and Président-Kennedy
- Sainte-Croix and Côte-de-Liesse
- Dickson and Notre-Dame
- De la Vérendrye and De l’Église
The TRAM team recommends that the city analyze these conflict zones to understand the reasons for collisions. They also suggest collecting and studying the desired paths for cyclists and redesigning the most dangerous intersections to prioritize safety and prevent crashes.
