Tipping wasn’t always a built-in feature of Uber’s apps. In fact, it was only implemented a few years ago, but it has become a blessing for drivers who depend on generous tips in order to make a decent living. And the good news for drivers is that some people are tipping more than expected.
Uber Eats has released data that shows the top 10 cities in Canada that rank as the best when it comes to tipping. According to the company, five Quebec cities are among the Top 10 when it comes to tipping Uber Eats drivers during the pandemic with the average tip on an order increasing by more than 55 per cent since the COVID-19 pandemic began to significantly impact businesses across the country.

The data also shows that tips between 5 and 6 p.m. are the highest, around 33 per cent more than the daily average— and apparently people who order Japanese, Thai, Italian, and traditional pub food are the most generous, all tipping higher than the daily average.
According to the Uber Eats website, tips are not expected but customers who want to include a tip with their payment can do so via the app during checkout or when rating the delivery person. Customers can also give cash tips if they desire.
In the case of Uber Eats delivery, the driver gets to keep 100% of the tips you give them, so giving them even a small tip can help to substantially boost their overall earnings.
Obviously, you should take into account the quality of the customer service you receive, but it is recommended you stick within the range of $1–$3 for most deliveries.
