With St. Patrick's Day only a few weeks away, many were anticipating who this year's official parade queen would be. Well, the wait is over!
The queen was officially announced earlier this weekend and the lucky crowned winner is...Samara O'Gorman! The actress and writer will appear at Montreal's official parade on March 19th. Her crowning merits her no less than a trip to Ireland!
"There's something so inherently special about the Montreal Irish and how they interact with their heritage and how Montreal interacts with tradition," said O'Gorman in an interview. "It's so special and it always leaves me wanting to come back for more every year."
O'Gorman first auditioned for queen of Montreal's St. Patrick's Day parade in 2020, without success. This time around, she's proud, excited and more confident than ever.
The court following the queen is composed of the following four princesses: Caeleigh McDonald, Shaeleigh Rose Spracklin, Olivia Dawe & Julia Rochford.
First hosted in 1824, this will be the parade's first return to Montreal since 2019, just before COVID-19 struck the city. "There's something so inherently special about the Montreal Irish and how they interact with their heritage and how Montreal interacts with tradition," she said. "It's so special and it always leaves me wanting to come back for more every year," said O'Gorman.
