Whoosh! Crack! Snap! Those are just some of the sounds Montrealers could hear across town after a severe freezing rain storm yesterday.
The icy temperatures across town not only resulted in several tree-breaking incidents and slippery roads, but also in 1 million Hydro-Quebec users without power...with nearly half of them in Montreal alone.Talk about a dark way to head into Easter weekend!
Though some Quebecers are still in the dark this morning, Hydro-Quebec mentions that it is 'hard for them to say when services will be restored'.
"It is difficult for us to provide specific recovery times. Our teams become aware of the work to be done as they progress through the field. In addition to assemblers and joiners, pruners, planters and support staff for procurement, logistics and administrative support are deployed," said the electricity provider in a tweet this morning.
This unfortunately means that we aren't sure when the power will be back. For all we know, it could last days, leading to a pitch-black Easter...
Keep an eye out on the roads Montreal and most importantly, stay safe out there!
