Nick Carter feels "completely heartbroken" following the death of his younger sister Bobbie Jean Carter.
Bobbie Jean, who appeared in the family TV show House of Carters, passed away at her home in Florida on 23 December aged 41.
The Backstreet Boys singer, 42, broke his silence over her death on Thursday by sharing a throwback photo of him and Bobbie Jean as children holding toys.
In the caption, Nick acknowledged the fact that he and his sister Angel are the only surviving Carter siblings following the death of Leslie in 2012, Aaron in 2022, and now Bobbie Jean.
"It may take a lifetime to fully process the loss my family has endured over the years – most recently, with the sudden passing of our sister Bobbie Jean," he wrote on Instagram. "I am completely heartbroken. Thank you for all your love and kind words. We are reminded again that life is precious, fleeting and to cherish the time we have with the ones we love. I know she is finally at peace with God. I love you BJ."
A spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office told TMZ in December that Bobbie Jean was found unresponsive in the bathroom. They rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was subsequently declared dead.
The circumstances are eerily similar to Aaron's death. The I Want Candy singer, 34, drowned in his bathtub after ingesting drugs and inhaling gas in November 2022.
Bobbie Jean's cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
