Shrek 2 is set to be re-released in theaters for its 20th anniversary, and there is literally no other news headline that can make us happier than this one…
While it sounds hard to believe that it’s already been 20 years since it’s original release, the iconic Shrek 2 movie will be coming to a big screen near you this May to celebrate Shrek and Donkey making us laugh for the last 20 years!
The news came after the Government of Alberta in Canada shared its trailers for the month of January and February. The film was reviewed by the province’s film body on February 22, 2024.
It’s yet to be confirmed when exactly the movie would be re-released in Montreal, but it’s safe to say that the news is quite promising.
Back in 2004, the film was up in the running for two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Accidentally In Love” by Counting Crows). It also turned out to be the highest-grossing film of 2004, raking $935.3 million worldwide.
