Can you believe it’s been 20 years since the release of the iconic Mean Girls movie?

The film, directed by Tina Fey, came out on April 30th, 2004, starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and more.

The storyline of Mean Girls revolves around Cady Heron, portrayed by Lohan, as she transitions to an American high school following years of homeschooling in Africa. She becomes friends with two outcasts, who form a plan to get revenge on Regina George, played by McAdams, the leader of the Plastics.

The movie received a wide amount of success which led to a sequel, a Broadway musical and most recently a reboot of the movie.

Mean Girls has significantly influenced popular culture by giving young women a sense of validation and representation. The film explored various aspects of girlhood, showcasing both the positive and negative sides. Additionally, it introduced memorable and funny quotes like “That was so fetch,” “On Wednesdays we wear pink,” and “I’m not like a regular mom, I’m a cool mom!” among others, contributing to its iconic status.

The original cast members have also recently taken back their roles for a funny commercial for Walmart for Black Friday.
