Ed Sheeran has explained that he won't release new music this year.

The singer-songwriter has revealed he's concentrating on his tour and has no plans to release new music this year.

During an appearance at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Gala at Dodgers Stadium on Thursday, Ed told People that he is working on new music but it won't be released for a while.

"Nothing's going to come out this year," he said of the new music. "I'm enjoying being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it's quite a lot being on tour and releasing records. So, I've made the new music and I'm just going to sit on it for a bit."

In May last year, the singer released his sixth studio album, Subtract. Four months later, in September, he released another album, Autumn Variations.

Ed, 33, is currently touring the U.S. as part of his 117-date Mathematics Tour. The trek kicked off in April 2022 and will finish in September this year.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Eyes Closed hitmaker said his daughters Lyra Antarctica, three, and Jupiter, two, approve of his music.

"Yeah, of course, of course," Ed said when asked if his kids listen to his music. "Mostly my new songs because I don't really play my old songs in the house."

He added, "I feel it'd be quite weird to just put on my discography, so they mostly know the new songs that I'm working on because I play them quite a lot."

Ed shares his daughters with his wife Cherry Seaborn, whom he married in 2019.
