Shrek is love, Shrek is life, and Shrek is BACK!

That’s right, Shrek 5 is coming to theatres in 2026, with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz all returning as Shrek, Donkey, and Princess Fiona.

This will be the seventh movie in the huge franchise and the first continuation of the original Shrek series to hit theatres after 16 years.

DreamWorks Animation announced the news on X with the following caption: "Not too Far, Far Away... Shrek 5 is coming to theatres on July 1, 2026, with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz."

The first Shrek movie was released back in 2001 and won the first Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

While the plot has not been revealed yet, we know for a fact that many of us will be sitting down in theatres in July 2026.
