Did you log on to work this morning with a blue screen from Microsoft? Well, you're not alone...
What can be considered an IT specialist's nightmare has happened early Friday morning, as Microsoft experienced a global outage. With businesses and major corporations facing issues from airports, banks, and even broadcasters like The Beat 92.5.
According to CBC News, "A global tech outage was disrupting operations in multiple industries on Friday, with airlines halting flights, some broadcasters off-air and everything from banking to health care hit by system problems."
While flights from AirCanada and Porter had been canceled due to lack of resources, others had difficulty accessing their online banks due to the outage.
For us here at The Beat, our team arrived to the station with limited to access to resources and were forced to put on our thinking caps and get to work... Natasha Gargiulo, Mark Bergman, and Catherine Duranceau put their skills to the test and put on a fabulous show, all while keeping listeners informed and entertained.
As of 10:55am, Microsoft announced on X that, "We've completed our mitigation actions and our telemetry indicates all previously impacted Microsoft 365 apps and services have recovered."
While things slowly go back to normal, this experience has definitely reminded us to always have a Plan B and C for when technology fails us... For now, we are glad to say that things are back up and running here at the radio station!
