Gal Gadot has challenged Thor's Chris Hemsworth to a superhero fight.

The Israeli actress portrays feisty heroine Wonder Woman in her own new DC Comics movie and will also reprise her role in 2017's Justice League.

On Friday (2Jun17) TV broadcaster Katie Couric shared a short clip of Gal on Twitter, in which the 32-year-old actress states, "They ask me, who would win? Wonder Woman or Thor? And I think it's Wonder Woman, Don’t you, Chris?" Keen to get a response from muscleman Chris, Katie tagged him in a link to the video, joking Gal has "something to ask you".

And ever the gracious gentleman, the Australian star replied, "@katiecouric @GalGadot I think she'd kick Thor's a**," but that didn't seem to be enough to satisfy Gal.

In response to his post, the brunette beauty posted, "@chrishemsworth @katiecouric I always knew you were a smart guy :) But I think its worth a fight. we should collide worlds," followed by a smirking face.

Fans were excited by the prospect of watching their two favourite comic book characters face off against each other, with one joking, "@GalGadot @SuperheroPOLL @chrishemsworth I want to see this movie! What do you think Loki?," tagging a GIF image of Tom Hiddleston's Marvel character, whose brother is Thor, smiling and saying, "Oh yes."

Chris' superhero alter ego is part of the Marvel universe and can next be seen in the third instalment of his own film franchise, titled Thor: Ragnarok, due out later this year (17). He'll also be back as part of The Avengers in 2018 with Avengers: Infinity War, reteaming with co-stars Chris Evans as Captain America and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.
