Nicole Scherzinger has been hit with backlash for commenting on Russell Brand's post about the U.S. election.

Prior to the news that Republican Party candidate Donald Trump had defeated Democratic Party nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election on Wednesday morning, the English actor took to Instagram to share a photo of himself smiling and holding a red cap featuring the words, "Make Jesus First Again."

In the accompanying caption, Russell wrote, "God Bless America."

Despite living in the U.K., the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star has been vocal in his support of Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in posts on his YouTube channel.

And on Thursday night, Nicole saw the post and asked, "Where do I get this hat?" along with prayer hands and red heart emojis.

The comment has since been deleted.

However, many fans were quick to respond to the 46-year-old's post, with some upset over her seemingly positive view of the cap - which closely resembled the controversial red hat with the "Make America Great Again" slogan that Trump wore throughout his campaign.

"@nicolescherzinger wtf (what the f**k) girl, not it!" one follower wrote, while another user stated, "@nicolescherzinger it's too late boo, we saw your comment."

In addition, theatre fans asserted that the comment may impact her chances of winning a Tony Award.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer is currently starring in the Broadway revival of musical Sunset Boulevard.

"Well the Best Actress Tony race just got a little less competitive," wrote theatre critic Adam Feldman on X, while another user declared, "How to lose a Tony in under 30 characters."

Representatives for Nicole have not yet responded to the backlash.
