Montreal is taking action to provide affordable housing for its citizens.

The city has announced plans to purchase around 30 apartment buildings, totaling approximately 700 housing units, for $103 million.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante stated that this initiative aims to protect vulnerable households and preserve affordable housing.

The project will be managed by the Office municipal d'habitation de Montréal (OMHM), which will conduct health assessments of the buildings to determine renovation priorities.
