Teddy Swims has opened up about his experience of being in therapy.

The American singer-songwriter and rapper, real name Jaten Collin Dimsdale, 32, explained that he was coaxed into attending therapy sessions by his girlfriend Raiche Wright - who is pregnant with his first child.

The star and his girlfriend are due to welcome their child this summer - and Wright suggested they visit an expert to prepare themselves for parenthood.

Opening up on Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast, the Lose Control singer revealed, "She was like, 'I think we should go to couple's therapy as we're having a baby. I want to make sure our communication is great'.

"The next thing you know, we're in therapy. Then I'm talking to a therapist on the side in solo sessions. I was like, she got me!"

Teddy went on to explain that the therapy sessions forced him to confront life's biggest issues.

He said: "I thought that when enough people said I was good at this, that all my problems would vanish. But that was the most lonely feeling."

The singer has been releasing music since 2019 with his debut album, the now ironically titled I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), dropping in September 2023.

A sequel album, titled I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 2), was released in January this year.
