Kristin Davis has lifted the lid on the some of the "strange, cult-type" fashion rules that existed during her run on Sex and the City.
The actress, who played Charlotte York in the TV series between 1998 and 2004, told series writer Jenny Bicks on her Are You A Charlotte? podcast that the specific fashion rules developed "slowly" as the show went on.
"I remember there were elements - and this is probably something I shouldn't say - there were strange, cult-type elements about being in that cast where there were like some rules," Davis told Bicks, noting that they weren't allowed to wear scrunchies or banana clips.
"Like the little things. And they come slowly. They weren't all in the beginning. No scrunchies, no banana clips, no hose (tights) unless they were fishnets," she continued. "We went through a whole fishnet phase. If you could find double fishnets that was great. If you could find nude double fishnets even better."
The 60-year-old also shared that there was a "heel-height situation" and it took her a while "to get on board with" wearing such high heels to film the show.
Bicks replied, "Part of the problem is you can blame your co-star Sarah Jessica Parker because she could run in those things. She made it look so easy," to which Davis confirmed that she, Kim Cattrall, and Cynthia Nixon "always had to live up to" Parker as the series lead.
Elsewhere, the actress also divulged that she and her co-stars weren't allowed to wear "functional" coats or take home any clothes in their characters' wardrobes.
"We could go down the list of approved brands and not approved brands. There was a lot," she added.
Davis, Parker, and Nixon reprised their characters for the revival show And Just Like That... in 2021. A third season is due to premiere later this year.
