Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had some good news this morning - some of the national parks will partially reopen at the beginning of June. He also announced a $470 million investment in COVID-19 related supports for the fisheries industry including a new benefit to cover 75 per cent of losses up to $10,000, and changes to next year’s Employment Insurance rules.
In global news the World Health Organization is now warning that even with a vaccine, COVID-19 may never be wiped out and could be here to stay. They’re saying we might have to learn to live with it the same way do with viruses like HIV.
Canadian doctors are keeping a close eye on a rare inflammatory illness affecting some children. It’s called multisystem inflammatory vasculitis and can be compared to Kawasaki Syndrome. Scientists are still trying figure out if it’s directly linked to COVID-19, because not all children with it have tested positive for the virus. Sainte-Justine hospital has seen between 15 and 20 cases.
