Taylor Swift's Folklore is the first album to sell 1M copies this year
Taylor Swift’s Folklore has returned to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. The album jumped from No. 10 to No. 1, making it the eighth non-consecutive week spent at the top. Even more impressive; Taylor Swift’s Folklore has become the first album to sell a million copies in the U.S. this year.
Not only is Folklore, Swift’s ninth album to reach over 1 million copies sold across the border but all her studio albums including The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection also reached the milestone.
It follows ‘Lover’, Swift’s seventh album from 2019, which was the only album of last year to sell a million copies.
As of last month, she now holds the title for most cumulative weeks spent at Number One for a female artist on the Billboard 200 breaking a record held since 1987 by the late Whitney Houston. Among all acts, Swift is fifth behind The Beatles (132 weeks), Elvis Presley (67), Garth Brooks (52) and Michael Jackson (51).
