In an attempt for a cultural relaunch, the city of Montreal has big plans to help improve its social and economic development with a 25 million dollar culture and events plan.

Mayor Valérie Plante unveiled a list of 29 activities and events planned for the city throughout the course of the summer to help bring back life to the metropolitan area. With vaccination rates increasing and COVID-19 cases lowering by the day, the city of Montreal has decided to launch their plan starting as early as June 21st.

The various projects that are currently being organized will include everything from music, cinema, literature, dance, digital media, visual arts, theater, comedy, heritage and architecture.

While more events and activities have yet to be shared, we can expect everything from circus performances in Old Montreal, gardens organized by Indigenous artists, and major events like Pride Montreal, Just For Laughs, and the Montreal Jazz Fest.

Starting June 25th, outdoor events without designated seating are permitted with a maximum of 2,500 people. Physical distancing measures will still be encouraged during these in-person events.
