Tristan Thompson has confirmed that he is the father of Maralee Nichols' son and issued an apology to Khloé Kardashian.
The 30-year-old NBA star had previously disputed the paternity of the child, who was born on 1 December. In a message posted to his Instagram Story page, Thompson revealed his paternity test came back positive.
"Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols. I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established I look forward to amicably raising our son," he wrote. "I sincerely apologize to everyone I've hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately."
Thompson then addressed the 37-year-old reality star, who Nichols had previously claimed he was in a relationship with when the child was conceived.
"Khloé, you don't deserve this. You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you," the athlete continued. "You don't deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry."
Last month, Thompson claimed that it was not possible that he was the father of Nichols' child, stating that the only possible date of conception was when he was celebrating his birthday in Texas.
Kardashian and Thompson share a 3-year-old daughter, True. He also has a 5-year-old son, Prince, with ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig.
