A brand new ice skating rink is opening up in Montreal this month… And it’s beyond magical!
Last summer, Mayor Valérie Plante made the announcement that Place-Des-Arts will be welcoming L’Esplanade Tranquille to its district. The space will be open throughout all four seasons: colder seasons will be used as an ice skating rink and warmer seasons will be used to host public art shows and theatre performances.
According to their website, “Esplanade Tranquille is named in honour of the Tranquille bookstore, once located on the site, and its owner, Henri Tranquille (1916-2005). It is an important site in contemporary Quebec history, having hosted the launch of the Refus global manifesto in 1948.”
Situated on the corner of Sainte-Catherine and rue Clark, L’Esplanade Tranquille is seriously New York’s Rockefeller Center’s newest competition when it comes to glamorous rinks… That, and their bagels (although, we know Montreal has the best bagels yet!)
While we have yet to learn of any fares or opening hours, the skating rink is currently set to open up to the public on February 21, 2022.
Will you be giving this new space a visit?
