Shoppers Drug Mart, a renowned phramacy chain across Canada, announced that it would stop offering its customers single-use plastic bags, eliminating the product from its stores altogether. We can suspect that this is in response to the banthat Montreal and other cities have previously made, eliminating single-use platic bags from all grocery stores.

In an interview, a member of the pharmacy's management team said that their main goal was to "fight climate change" and "do their part to reduce single use plastic entering the environment."

The company hopes to achieve net-zero gas emissions by 2050, as part of their goal to fight climate change. One can only hope that more and more renowned chains like Shoppers Drug Mart will be inspired to do the same.

This new policy made by Shoppers Drug Mart will start taking place today, with a slow but sure removal of the bags across stores. Reusable shopping bags will be available for purchase (so remember to bring your own if you have any!)
