After what seemed to be a lengthy wait, Montreal's REM train has officially revealed its first date of operation. Mark your calendars, Montreal, because the first train of this new public transport system will be open to the public on July 31!
This first train will bring Montrealers from the Island of Montreal to the South Shore. More specifically, it will leave from the Central Station and bring passengers all the way to Brossard. "With its 5 stations, the REM’s South Shore branch will provide access from Brossard to downtown Montréal in under 18 minutes," advised the REM in its official press release.

With dry runs being carried out by crews over the past few weeks, the new system has been amply tested for the safety of passengers. "The dry run will continue over the next few weeks, allowing the teams to make the final adjustments to deliver the best possible customer experience."
Fares of the REM start at $3.75 per trip and $97.00 per month.
