Le Cercle Polaire is a brand new art installation that you can find at the Place Ville Marie Ring… And trust us, it’s worth seeing!
The project is a collaboration with Cree artist, Jason Carter, and the M.A.D. collective and celebrates the aesthetics of the First Nations. The creation features three polar bears and eight giant penguins, which is a nod to Québec’s Nordic nature.
The installation’s message not only highlights the beauty of our environment and indigenous cultures, but also raises awareness of the fragility of the polar ecosystem.
This isn’t the first time that Montreal is using art as a way to communicate an environmental message. Just last year, the city featured a massive polar bear ice sculpture that gradually melted to represent the effects of climate change on polar wildlife.
You can visit Le Cercle Polaire until March 10, 2024.
