Well Montreal, we are only a few days away from Daylight Saving Time. That’s right… This Sunday, March 10th, at 2 am, the clocks will move forward by one hour to 3 am local standard time!
While we all look forward to having more sunlight in our lives, we are aware of how time changes can impact our sleep patterns. Nevertheless, there are ways to get ready for daylight savings time!
Here are a few things you can do to adjust to the time change this weekend:
Make sure to get plenty of sleep beforehand!
One of the key ways to help your body adjust to daylight savings time is to prioritize getting sufficient sleep. Ensuring you get ample rest in the upcoming days will make it easier for your body to feel rejuvenated when Sunday arrives.
Don’t forget to set your clocks before bed
While your cell phone and other electronic devices might automatically update to daylight saving time overnight, make sure to set your watch and household clocks to the updates time before going to bed. This way you will start off Sunday at the right time and not feel confused!
Consider one or two relaxation techniques
While relaxation techniques can be beneficial year-round, practices such as deep breathing and meditation can effectively calm your mind and body, promoting restful sleep.
Get a maximum of sunlight exposure
To avoid any sleep disruptions after the time switch on Sunday, be sure to step outside for a while to get some daylight exposure! Daylight can actually help your body’s clock get used to the new timing.
Add some veggies and fruits into your diet!
Eating a nutritious diet has been shown to improve the quality of sleep. Make sure to include fruits and vegetables into your meals as they are linked to better sleep quality.
