Summer is fast approaching, and if your summer vacations are booked but you have nowhere yet in mind to go, how about a little road trip? Montreal is surrounded by beautiful destinations that are just a day or two away by car!
From the charming towns in Maine to the 1000 Islands in Ontario, here are some destinations to consider for a road trip:
The Maritimes
With Halifax being the farthest at 12 hours from Montreal (with no traffic...), you can easily take a few days to explore New Brunswick, drive through Nova Scotia, and visit Prince Edward Island. It sounds like a lot, but trust us, the views and destinations are all worthwhile!
The 1000 Islands, Ontario
Just over 3 hours away, the 1000 Islands is a beautiful spot in Ontario where you can visit lighthouses, castles, and museums, as well as enjoy fishing, diving, and more!
Maine, USA
Driving to Maine is the fastest way to get to the ocean from Montreal, being only a bit over 5 hours away. There are many little towns ready to welcome you with camping, exploring, and more to do!
Cape Cod, USA
Not too far from Maine, Cape Cod offers beautiful landscapes, recreational activities, and charming small towns!
Quebec City, Quebec
Only 3 hours away from Montreal, Quebec City provides a European and city vibe blended together. Enjoy the different landscapes the outskirts of the city have to offer, such as Montmorency Falls.
Tadoussac, Quebec
If you want to do some whale watching, you’ll be happy to know that you don’t have to travel too far from Montreal! Summer is the perfect time for a trip before whale watching season ends in October.
Gaspé, Quebec
Another great road trip within Québec, where the views are absolutely worth the drive! This trip takes about 10 hours to get there, which you can do in two days if you want to take your time and explore other spots along the way.
