Montreal's Pride Festival is just around the corner, and if you're on the fence about joining in the fun, we're here to assure you there are countless reasons why you should check it out!
Fierté Montreal has spilled the tea on all the fabulous reasons you shouldn't miss out on their shindigs, and we couldn’t agree more!
Take a look below at why you shouldn’t miss out on Montreal Pride this year:
Attend the Pride Parade
The renowned Pride Parade is scheduled for August 11th at 1pm, making it a key event during the festival. With the theme "We Are the Rainbow," the focus will be on advocating for greater recognition and respect for the rights of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Check out a Drag show!
Whether you're a seasoned drag enthusiast or new to the scene, this year's Pride Festival offers a diverse array of drag performances! From the Afro Drag show to the Soirée 100% Drag, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Notably, the Drag Superstars event will be the biggest free drag show across North America. And for drag fans, don't miss the chance to meet the superstars at the Meet & Greet on August 9th at 6pm.
Discover the diversity within the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities!
The upcoming celebrations will feature artists from various marginalized groups. Notable events such as Afro Drag, Pikete, and Bloc Bollywood aim to highlight diversity. Attending these events offers a wonderful opportunity to delve into the rich culture and history of these groups from a fresh perspective.
Enjoy a comedy show from queer comedians!
If you're up for some laughs, the festival offers a diverse range of comedy shows created by and for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members. Don't miss out on events like Des Gags et des Paillettes, Ciseaux, and others that humorously explore the experiences of queer individuals.
Take the opportunity to get educated!
Pride is not only a space for entertainment and enjoyment but also a platform to delve into community issues and connect with its members. If you're interested in learning about organizations supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, don't miss the Community Days on August 9th and 10th in the Village. Representatives will be delighted to engage in conversations and meet with you!
Get more acquainted with Indigenous and Two-Spirit artists
As a valued member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, you have the opportunity to discover more about Indigenous and Two-Spirit artists by participating in Lumière des Nations, an event co-created by Cercle Indigiqueer and Fierté Montréal.
Two words: THE PARTIES!
A Pride Festival wouldn't be complete without dancing, wouldn't you agree? Dancing is a must, and you can count on it! With drag shows, concerts, and more happening at Club Soda and SAT, this is an event you won't want to miss!
Be yourself within a safe space
At Pride, one thing you can always count on is a welcoming and safe environment for all community members. This year, the festival will feature events tailored for both adults and children, providing support and a secure space for everyone.
Meet Donna Saker!
Another fantastic reason to join the Montreal Pride Festival's Community Days is to visit The Beat 92.5's tent on Friday, August 9th. Donna Saker will be broadcasting live on location from 12pm to 5pm!
