Joey Fatone has insisted it's "crazy" to hear people calling *NSYNC hit Bye Bye Bye the "Deadpool dance".

Bye Bye Bye was released by US boy band *NSYNC back in 2000, and proved a huge hit around the world, even earning a Record of the Year Grammy nomination.

The song enjoyed a fresh surge in popularity after it was featured in Deadpool & Wolverine, with Ryan Reynolds recreating the iconic choreography from the video. *NSYNC star Fatone has now revealed his surprise that a whole new generation of music fans have no idea where the track originated from.

"It's even crazier with the whole trending of now people going, 'Oh look, it's the Deadpool dance,'" he told The New York Post. "You're like, 'No, it's not a Deadpool dance. It's actually Bye Bye Bye.'"

Fatone still loves listening to the hit track as it evokes fond memories of him starting out in the industry alongside his bandmates Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick.

"It brings me back to a time when we were learning how to be adults," he explained. "It was bye bye bye to childhood."

Fatone also revealed *NSYNC knew Bye Bye Bye would be a huge hit the moment they first heard it.

Recalling recording the song, he said, "We're all excited about it. And, you know, you always think, 'OK, hopefully it has potential. Hopefully it moves you or makes you want to bop your head.'"
