An iconic staple of Canadian retail history is coming to an end. Hudson’s Bay has announced it will be closing all of its stores nationwide by June, with liquidation sales already underway. The company is selling off furniture, inventory, fixtures, and more across its 80 locations, with final closures expected by June 15.
The announcement, made late last week, means more than 9,000 employees will lose their jobs as the company winds down operations. Despite the closures, Hudson’s Bay has assured customers that stores will remain open and operate as usual during the liquidation process.
If you have a Hudson’s Bay gift card, you’ll need to use it before April 6, as the company will stop accepting them after that date. However, the loyalty program will remain suspended.
In Montreal, five Hudson’s Bay locations will be affected: Fairview Pointe-Claire, Galeries d’Anjou, Rockland Centre, Carrefour Angrignon, and the flagship downtown store.
This marks the end of an era for a retailer that has been a staple in Canada for centuries. If you’re looking for a deal, now might be the time to visit before the final doors close!
