Morgan Wallen has caused speculation to swirl online following his abrupt exit from the Saturday Night Live set over the weekend.
The country singer served as the musical guest on the late-night sketch comedy show on Saturday night, performing the tracks I'm the Problem and Just in Case from his upcoming fourth studio album.
But as the credits rolled at the conclusion of the episode, Wallen could be seen leaning in next to Anora actress Mikey Madison, who was making her hosting debut, and whispering something.
He then stepped off stage and walked past the camera in front of him.
A short time later, the Whiskey Glasses hitmaker posted a photo of a private jet with the words, "Get me to God's country," written over in bold white text.
Representatives for SNL and Wallen have not yet commented on the move.
However, viewers were quick to take to social media to call out the 31-year-old's unusual behaviour.
"Wow, Morgan Wallen just walking off the stage during the @nbcsnl credits? In decades of watching SNL, I don't think I've ever seen that. For so many of us, that is sacred ground," one user wrote on X, while another added: "If you go back and watch the clips of Mikey with Morgan and Chloe (Fineman) from midweek (the hi I'm Mikey Madison and I'm hosting SNL this week with Morgan Wallen clips) you'll see he didn't want to shoot those either, and probably only did SNL cause his manager and agent made him (sic)."
It's not the first time Wallen has sparked controversy with his appearance on SNL.
Back in October 2020, the Tennessee native was booked to perform on the show, but the offer was rescinded after he was seen flouting Covid-19 pandemic protocols.
Jack White replaced him as the musical guest at the last minute, though Wallen apologised and appeared on episode hosted by Jason Bateman two months later.
The artist's new album, I'm the Problem, is set to drop on 16 May.
