Charli XCX has matched Chappell Roan's donation for artists struggling to afford healthcare.

On Saturday night, the Apple hitmaker took to her Instagram Stories to announce that she would be giving $25,000 (£20,000) to an organisation that aids musicians.

"hey @chappellroan i am going to match your 25k to support artists' access to healthcare. i saw @noahkahanmusic say that he would do the same and so i thought i'd follow suit," she captioned a photo of herself in which she wrote the word "money" with an arrow pointing to her mouth. "Your speech at the grammys was inspiring and thoughtful and from a genuine place of care. happy to help get the ball rolling too. money where mouth is xx (sic)."

Charli, real name Charlotte Aitchison, made the pledge after singer-songwriter Noah Kahan made a similar vow on his social media account.

"Hey @chappellroan, I'm going to match your 25K to support artist's access to healthcare," he declared. "I'm inspired by you. Happy to help get the ball rolling. Money where (my) mouth is!"

At the 2025 Grammy Awards earlier this month, Chappell called for record label bosses to offer "liveable" wages and healthcare for performers during her acceptance speech for Best New Artist.

The Pink Pony Club singer's statement was criticised by music executive Jeff Rabhan in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter who called her comments "noble but also wildly misinformed".

Later, Chappell challenged Jeff to contribute to Backline, a charity which connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources.

"@jeffrabhan wanna match me $25K to donate to struggling dropped artists?" she wrote on her Instagram Stories. "My publicist is @biz3publicity let's talk."

The 26-year-old insisted she would keep receipts of any donations.

"Mr. Rabhan, I love how in the article you said 'put your money where your mouth is.' Genius !!! Let's link and build together and see if you can do the same," she added.
